HORNCASTLE AREA PAGEHorncastle Area Mothers’ Union is located in the north-east of Lincolnshire and covers three deaneries – Louthesk, Horncastle, Calcewaithe & Candleshoe.Louthesk has three branches – Binbrook, Legbourne and Louth Holy Trinity Horncastle has six branches – Bardney, Coningsby & Tattershall, Horncastle, Thimbleby, Woodhall Spa and Wragby Calcewaithe & Candleshoe has 3 branches – Alford, Burgh le Marsh and Skegness & Winthorpe. There is an Area President, Marjorie Woodcock and an Area Chaplain, the Revd Daphne King. Each deanery has a Leader and every branch a Leader. All branches meet monthly. In the Diocese of Lincoln there are two meetings per year to which every member is invited, Summer Council and Winter Council. Winter Council was held on 17th November 2007 at Horncastle and our Speaker was Reg Bailey, Mothers’ Union Chief Executive. The Area holds two Area Days – in May 2007, our first Day was held in Louth when the Revd David de Verny spoke about Migrant Workers; the second was held in Woodhall Spa when Elizabeth Megahey updated us on Faith & Policy issues. Already arranged for 2008 is a day at Binbrook when Jenni Honisett promises a day of fun – ‘Enthusing, Encouraging and Inspiring’ Mothers’ Union members endeavour to pray daily for our 4 million members throughout the world in some 78 countries. In 2008 Mothers’ Union branches hope to link existing programmes into nationally publicised issues. Members already help with prison crèches, serve coffee at St Benedict’s Centre, Lincoln, support women’s refuges and support the Away From It All holiday scheme.
