Rosemary Kempsell

our World wide Presidents visit to Lincoln Diocese

On May 6th - 8th we were privileged to have our Worldwide President Rosemary visit our diocese.

The trustees together with Bishop John were pleased to welcome her to St. Benedict’s for tea. Rosemary was very interested to hear about the projects that we are involved with in the diocese so she showed a great interest in the work we are doing at St. Benedict’s. While at the centre Jenni Honisett interviewed Rosemary for an article in our newsletter.

The main part of the visit was centred in the North of the diocese so we travel up to Scawby to spend the night at the home of Liz and Chris Lilley’s.

On Thursday morning Liz drove us to Scunthorpe to the General Hospital where we attended a service in the hospital chapel of St. Michael. The service was led by the chaplain Revd. John Fisher celebrating the project work of Prayer Crosses. The project led by Liz Lilley, Area President, had involved non members as well as members who made crosses for the patients.

At lunch time we travelled to St. Hugh’s where we were joined by one hundred and forty members from the North Lincs and Grimsby areas for an excellent lunch. This was followed by a short service before the Worldwide President gave a power point presentation on the work of the Mothers Union and her involvement as our President.

It was also good to see the banners and displays of work being done in the branches.

Rosemary and I then travelled on to Bardney for afternoon tea with branch members at the Black Horse restaurant. This was hosted by Marjorie Woodcock Area President of Horncastle.

The Diocesan Wave of Prayer was held at St. James church, Louth at 6pm with members from the Louthesk Deanery. All the deanery banners were processed at the service which was also attended by the Mayer of Louth. The service was led by the Area Chaplain the Revd. Daphne King. Rosemary, Marjorie and I then joined members for coffee after the service. That evening was spent at Marjorie’s home at Southery.

On Friday May 8th members from the South of the diocese were able to meet Rosemary and see her presentation at the Methodist Church at Horncastle.

I would like to thank Rosemary for visiting our diocese in her busy schedule and for inspiring us all with her presentation and enthusiasm. I hope every member who was present will go back and tell their branches and churches what an inspiring occasion her visit was.
