Mothers' Union
A message from
Margaret Smith, Our Diocesan President
Welcome
to the Official website of Mothers' Union in the Diocese of Lincoln.
Our Mothers' Union Centre is a 12th Century
Church dedicated to St Benedict which
has been re-furbished and stands in Lincoln High Street between BHS
and Marks and Spencer.

We are open to the public on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays
from 10.00am to 2.30pm, serving FAIR
TRADE tea and coffee and offering a place for rest and refreshment.
Greetings cards, books and other articles from Mothers' Union Enterprises
are also on sale.
Prayer undergirds all our work and activities. Prayers are said at
12 noon every day we are open at St Benedicts. Members throughout the
world maintain a Wave of Prayer at 12
noon each day. The Lincoln Wave of Prayer dates are May 6th - 10th.
On those days we maintain a chain of prayer with our link dioceses.
Mothers' Union has over three and a half million members throughout
78 countries. The Diocese of Lincoln is one of the 29 areas of the Canterbury
Province. There are 1,700 Mothers' Union members in the Diocese
of Lincoln. Some belong to branches in their parishes, or are Diocesan
or Indoor Members. Its aim is to promote Christian family life, underpinned
by prayer, worship and fellowship.
Thanks to donations and fund raising Mothers' Union can provide grants
for an overseas fund and emergency relief as well as the UK and Ireland
fund. We are involved in projects both locally and abroad. A
literacy and development project has enabled women in Malawi, Burundi
and the Sudan to read and write, also teaching them new skills in health,
hygiene, HIV/AIDS and poverty alleviation. At home, parenting groups
and holidays for families
under stress, help to counteract the isolation felt by many parents
in their local communities. 59,000 members supported the Jubilee
Debt Campaign to overcome poverty in the world. Mothers' Union is
represented at the United Nations campaigning and lobbying on world
issues.
The Marketing unit provides some very good literature
e.g. posters and leaflets about Mothers' Union and more recently a new
service book and a prayer book. A number of these leaflets are found
in this pack including the Children in Church series.
For information on how to join contact your local church or see our
